3 more days till VAN HALEN!!

The new Van Halen website: Fall tour dates posted.

"Tickets for the first Van Halen tour in more than 22 years with David Lee Roth went on sale in mid-August, resulting in immediate sell out dates in markets nationwide.

The reinvigorated band’s new website, www.van-halen.com, notes that the new “25 percent more Van Halen” lineup of Eddie Van Halen, son Wolfgang Van Halen, brother Alex Van Halen and original vocalist Roth will embark on a 29-date North American tour beginning Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C., and continuing at least through mid-December.

Tour promoter Live Nation is continuing to add dates; continually updated concert and ticketing information can be found on the new Van Halen website and on www.livenation.com. Details on the ultimate Van Halen concert experience, including pre-show parties, backstage access, premium seating and more, can be found online at www.iloveallaccess.com...

...Few acts have attained such an impressive track record. Van Halen has twice received the Recording Industry Association of America Diamond Award, presented to artists for album sales of 10 million or more units. Earning the award for Van Halen and for 1984 put the band on an elite list of two-time Diamond Award honorees, a feat seldom equaled in music business history.

Van Halen is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having more number-one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart than any band in history. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2007."

4 Reviews | Write a Review Giant Cavern = Bad Show 10/04/2002 Posted by rshields41

The only thing this venue has going for it lots of seating. Unless you're in the first few rows, however, you might as well stay home and watch a videotaped concert... it will be better! Arenas are meant for sports, not music! There is not intimacy or ambiance, and the only shows that can hope to play well here are high energy, big name shows... and even those would be better in a smaller place. And any venue that sells food cannot be taken seriously by a real concert goer.

Pros: Ample Seating, Easy Access, Good Parking

Cons: No Character, Cavernous, Expensive

WHERE I LEARNED THAT I MISSED EDDIE AT THE PHOENIX INT'L SPEEDWAY NASCAR RACE IN APRIL 2007!!

"It was a weekend for checkered flags and striped guitars.

In one of his first public appearances since a highly publicized March 2007 rehab stint, rock guitar legend and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Eddie Van Halen attended the NASCAR Subway Fresh Fit 500 race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) in Arizona over the weekend of April 20-21, where he served as an honorary race official and unveiled two new guitars.

At a press conference that Friday, Van Halen—looking tanned, happy and healthy—unveiled the EVH Frankenstein™ guitar replica, a Fender-built limited edition recreation of the unusually striped DIY instrument he made famous during Van Halen the band’s meteoric rise to rock superstardom in the late 1970s and ’80s. The other guitar was a custom Fender Stratocaster® that would be presented to the winner of the NASCAR race that Saturday.

As an honorary race official, Van Halen helped officially greet and introduce the more than 40 drivers in Saturday’s race. Further, the famous guitarist suited up for a “hot lap” on Friday, taking a speedy spin around the track at PIR with NASCAR driver Kurt Busch.

“I am honored on behalf of EVH brand guitars, amps, and musical products to be invited to such an exciting and fun event,” Van Halen said. “I feel privileged to be working with such amazing organizations like Phoenix International Raceway, their NASCAR event, and Fender.”

Phoenix International Raceway President Bryan Sperber said he was “personally delighted that Eddie Van Halen accepted our invitation to join us as our honorary race official for the Subway Fresh Fit 500.”

“It was a thrill for the drivers and fans to have Eddie at Phoenix International Raceway for the NASCAR weekend,” Sperber added.

Fender President Matt Janopaul presented NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon with the custom Stratocaster after Gordon won the race from the pole, delighting fans and ending a 21-race streak of non-pole winners at PIR. Another custom Stratocaster was presented to 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup winner Jimmie Johnson."

At night I walk this stinkin' street
Past the crazies on my block
And I see the same old faces
And I hear that same old talk

And I'm searching for the latest thing
A break in this routine
I'm talkin' some new kicks
Ones like you ain't never seen
This is home
This is Meanstreet
It's our home
The only one I know

And we don't worry 'bout tomorrow
Cause we're sick of these four walls
Now what'd ya think is nothing
Might be something after all
Now you know this ain't no through street
The end is dead ahead
The poor folks play for keeps down here
They're the living dead
Come on down
Down to Meanstreet
They're dancing now
Out on Meanstreet
It's always here and now, my friend
It ain't once upon a time
It's all over but the shouting
I'll come and I'll take what's mine
We're searching for the latest thing
A break in this routine
Talkin' some new kicks
Ones like you ain't never seen
This is home
This is Meanstreet
It's our home
Only one I know
(This is home) See, a gun is real easy
(This is Meanstreet) In this desperate part of town
(This is home) Turns you from hunted into hunter
(This is Meanstreet) Go and hunt somebody down
(This is home) But hear me now, somebody said "Fair Warning, Lord !"
(This is Meanstreet) Lord, strike that poor boy down
